If you read a diet/ exercise plan promising the earth, it's probably false.
If you think 'that can't be true' you're probably right.
Despite my logical mind, I still want to believe in the miracle cure. I blame Cinderella - an overnight transformation. Ugly duckling to swan.
TV shows reinforce this myth - THE BIG REVEAL. The shocking BEFORE & AFTER pictures.
We did it on Celebrity Fit Club. They had me shrinking in a matter of seconds for the visual - a process that had taken months in reality.
Believe me, if there was a magic pill to get rid of unwanted fat/ cellulite/build muscle/ target specific areas, do you not think I'd be taking it?
Instagram photos of impossibly buff bodies are just that - impossible. Good angles/ lighting/ posture can change an image in seconds.
Celebrities lie about implants, fat transfer, nips and tucks. They set up false ideals.
You may lose weight on a crash, fad diet, but you'll lose muscle as well as fat. And as soon as you go back to eating the way you did before the diet, you'll put it all back on. And usually more.
So, a reminder - the truth is:
* You can't spot reduce fat. if you lose weight, you lose it all over, although you may notice it more in different areas.
* If your genetic make-up is Kate Moss skinny, you will NEVER look like Kim Kardashian. The only way you will get a Kardashian bum is to buy one. Sorry.
* Fashions change. A trendy body this week may not be in fashion next year. So don't do anything drastic and irreparable, like surgery.
* Take outrageous claims with a pinch of (Himalayan) salt.
