TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT
We all like routine. Even if we don't THINK we like routine, our HABITS tell a different story.
We may think we want to change our lives, our body shape, our diets, but if we don't keep focussing on that, the old tried and tested will take over.
It takes at least 28 days to form a new habit.
For me, not working out is harder than doing something, however gentle.
However, if I'm ill, tired, angry or sad, I'm more likely to reach for chocolate than anything else. I've not been able to completely break that cycle. YET.
January NEW START energy can push you towards new, positive behaviours.
It' also a dark time of the year when many of us are knackered!
So, let's be gentle with our new resolutions.
Get off the bus a stop earlier
Set a reminder on your phone to take a break & stretch
Don't walk past that cake shop
Do 10 minutes of an exercise video
Come to the gym, even if you just do 10 minutes
Spend 10 minutes (or more) clearing out your clothes & give stuff to friends or charity shops if you don't like or use it
Buy a couple of nice things in the sales to cheer yourself up
Cut out that cigarette/ biscuits with the afternoon cup of tea
Ask a friend to go for a walk/ work out with you
Don't drink alcohol on a school night
BUT, IF YOU RELLY WANT TO GO FOR IT...
* Try a new class
* Commute a different way to work
* Sign up for a run
* Get a Personal Trainer
* Book a holiday somewhere exciting
